Spring 2006
We have been living near Carcassonne, France (Langue
D'Oc-Roussillon region in the mid-south) since last September and
will stay until the beginning of June. I have done very little painting...but
my french has improved greatly!! The landscapes and portraits that
I have managed between meals can be found in New
Works.
Fall 2005
We returned to France in September, and I am trying
to organize myself to get some paintings of the landscape here in
Rousillon-Langued'oc accomplished. But mostly I've been eating,
drinking, meeting new friends, amd learning to speak French.
Sometimes art must wait..

Summer 2005
I spent 10 weeks in France this spring, and plan to
return to the south of France in September for several months. I
didn't really do any painting at all, but hope to once I am settled
in.
Summer 2004
Most of my recent works have been landscapes painted
using pastels. Many were inspired by a recent trip up the California
coast.....
Pastels are one of the purest forms of pigment. All media use
the same basic pigments, but the binders and fillers used differs
(oil, water, gums, etc. differ). Unlike oils, pastels will never
crack, fade, or yellow, and do not need revarnishing.
However, since the pigments are placed on the paper in a dry form,
pastels are vulnerable to the touch, and have to be framed under
glass. This, as some of you know, can make shipping a little tricky.
Ooops..
